At the base of the Kirkjufell mountain, there were two flowers. One was a Lupine flower and one was an Angelica flower. The two flowers were best friends, but had to hide their friendship because their families hated each other. The Angelica family hated the Lupine family because the Lupine family was an invasive species, and they were slowly taking over the land at the base of the mountain. However, the two young flowers’ friendship still flourished.

The two would always spend the first day of each season together and admired the changes in the landscape. They especially loved in the winter, when they could see the Northern Lights in the sky together, but each season was beautiful in its own way.

One day in the winter, the Angelica family saw the two flowers talking and were appalled that a member of their own family was talking to their enemy. They forbid the flower from seeing the Lupine again. That night, the two looked up at the Northern Lights and wished that they could be friends again. The next day, their wish came true and their families forgave each other.
